Daily Cruises to
Bartolomé Island
Bartolomé Island
Bartolome offers one of the most emblematic sceneries of the Galapagos Islands. A 600 – meter pathway complete with stairs and a boardwalk will take you to the highest point of the island where you will be able to learn first hand about the volcanic origins of the Galapagos Islands.
After the walk a dingy ride along the coastline will give you the opportunity to see the Galapagos penguin. This curious bird nest amongst the fissured lava flows and ventures into the crystal clear waters of Bartolome to fish.
Sullivan Bay (Saturdays)
Sullivan Bay is on the eastern coast of Santiago Island. This visitor site is all about the geology and volcanic origins of the Galápagos, and although there is little wildlife here, the eerie landscape that was formed only 150 years ago has a real beauty all of its own. On the hiking trail you will walk along lava that bubbled up from the ground, flowed and solidified in the second half of the 18th century. We recommend good sturdy shoes for walking in these lava fields. The landscape here is eerie and apparently barren - some of our Galapatours guests liken it to a "lunar landscape".
As the trail moves inland, the textures and colors change as you encounter much older lava fields. Here you can start to see signs of nature beginning to colonize this "new land". The small green plants that have started to grow in the cracks and crevices are called Mollugo..
Snorkeling / Wet landing.
Chinese Hat (Mondays)
After an exquisite lunch, we will head to Chinese Hat, which is a very small volcano nearby Santiago Island, surrounded by small spatter cones creating a dramatic landscape. Because of its distinctive shape, Chinese Hat has fascinated visitors as long as they have been coming to Galapagos.
It's one of the smallest Galapagos Islands but don't be fooled: it has a unique visitor site with an unforgettable view! Galapagos Penguins and eventually Galapagos hawks are active across this patch of land which is also beautiful for visitors who just come to see and enjoy the scenery. A wet landing in the main beach of the island will give you the opportunity of enjoying the sandy beach where sea lions rest and a variety of wade birds feed on the shore line.
